News: World Record Continuous Domino

Leeuwarden - 07/11/2008 - Today, Weijers Domino Productions set a new world record for the Longest Time Continuous Domino Toppling with 35 minutes and 22 seconds!

For a pre-Domino-Day-show for RTL Germany, Weijers Domino Productions created the record “Longest Time Continuous Domino Toppling.” A specially trained team of 60 builders had to set up 900 dominoes in a big closed circle of 30 meters. To keep the domino line toppling in a continuous circle they had to rebuild it again and again after toppling.

All subsequent toppling of dominoes had to result from the original domino topple. No artificial means, such as electricity, could be employed to topple the dominoes. After the initial domino had been toppled the time starts and the builders had to rebuild the line again. All dominoes had to be placed by hand and no tools or aids were allowed. The line had to be uninterrupted and no safeties were allowed. The toppling time for one round was about 30 seconds, which means that each domino had to be rebuild within 2 seconds. Even the slightest mistake would have ended the attempt. It was a nerve breaking exercise of ultimate teamwork. And the team succeeded.
